About Wendy Brown Helmkamp

Wendy has over 25 years of experience advising leaders on clarifying strategy, organization development and design, adapting culture and navigating change. Her practice of improving organizational health includes creating inclusive and equitable environments where people can be their true selves and embrace each other’s differences.  Her experience includes organizational assessments and co-creating strategies to address the personal, interpersonal, organizational, and cultural levels of transformation. The result is greater success moving from the current state to a desired future state.  Wendy brings a holistic, system-wide perspective to her work, and effectively weaves together various perspectives into stronger solutions. She stays current on innovative social and business sector practices and is adept at integrating them into her work.  She believes in creating solutions with others, not for them.

Affiliations:

  • Consultant with VISIONS-inc, a nonprofit consulting and training organization that specializes in addressing diversity, equity and inclusion at the personal, interpersonal, institutional/systemic and cultural levels of change.

Prior experience:

  • Partner with The Clarion Group, a management advisory firm dedicated to helping leaders address their toughest challenges at the intersection of business and humanity.

  • Senior Manager with Accenture, a global consulting firm where she specialized in organization development.

  • Consultant with James H. Lowry & Associates, a diversity and inclusion consulting firm where she assisted her clients in making system-wide changes to embrace a diverse workforce.

Wendy’s draw to "human-centered" consulting and her desire to build a just society stems from her upbringing.  Her family’s values of fairness and respect for all were passed down from one generation to the next. In addition to her professional work, she volunteers with organizations committed to social justice. These include: the A Better Chance Program of Simsbury, CT, which provides quality education opportunities for young people of color, RE-Center: Race & Equity in Education, whose mission is to build an equitable and just world where everyone has what they need to grow and thrive, and The Southern Poverty Law Center, whose focus is on dismantling racism through legal and educational actions, where she has been a contributing member since graduating from college.

Wendy lives life with the laughter and love she shares with her husband and two sons. She finds inspiration hiking with her dogs, biking on back roads, practicing yoga, and walking in moon shadows, for her, a symbol of hope and beauty in the dark.
